IndieSessions Terms of Service

Last updated: September 16, 2026  ·  Company: My Universe, LLC ("IndieSessions," "we," "us," "our")

1) Overview & Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the IndieSessions website at indiesessions.com, our partner sites (including MixMaster Sessions and other mentor-branded sites we operate), our mobile apps, and any content, functionality, or services we provide (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, accessing an IndieSessions shared link, or otherwise using functionality that requires acceptance of these Terms, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy (incorporated by reference). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the new Terms and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2) Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you create an account, you must provide accurate and complete information and keep it up to date. Safeguard your credentials and notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

3) Temporary Anonymous Access

Certain features may be used without creating a registered IndieSessions account — for example, claiming a mentor's public Collab invite, watching a live session, or signing up to be notified before a broadcast. These features may use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a temporary technical account and identifier so we can securely provide the requested access.

A temporary anonymous account is not the same as a registered IndieSessions account. If you later create a registered account from the same session (for example, to claim your Collab and keep it), that upgrade preserves the content already associated with your temporary access — it does not create a separate, disconnected identity.

You may be offered the opportunity to register at any point; registration is optional and requires a separate affirmative signup action.

4) License & Ownership

4.1 Our IP

The Service (including software, text, images, videos, audio, design, and other materials) is owned by IndieSessions and/or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service solely for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

You must not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Service except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by law.

4.2 Your Content & License to Us

If you upload, post, store, stream, or otherwise submit content (e.g., media, text, images, audio, video, metadata, thumbnails, feedback) ("User Content"), you retain your ownership of that content. You grant IndieSessions a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (e.g., for formatting/compression), display, perform, distribute, and otherwise use your User Content to operate, provide, improve, promote, and protect the Service, including enabling previews, thumbnails, streams, artist websites, Collab exchanges, and sharing features you choose to use. This license ends when your content is deleted from our systems, subject to reasonable backup/archival copies and any rights other users already have to your content (e.g., if a Collab collaborator already received and saved a track you shared, or if you saved or re-shared content as enabled by the Service).

You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your User Content and use of the Service comply with these Terms and applicable law.

4.3 Feedback

You may submit ideas, suggestions, or feedback. We may use them without restriction or compensation.

5) Artist Links, Collaboration, and Sharing

IndieSessions lets you create and share an Artist Link (a contact/media card), invite others into a Collab session to exchange tracks, stems, or project files, and broadcast or watch live sessions. This section describes how those features work.

5.1 Artist Link and Shared Media

Media, files, and information you choose to include on your Artist Link or share through the Service may be viewed, downloaded, or saved by recipients you share it with, or by the public if you mark it public. Removing something from your Artist Link or making it private does not delete or recall copies a recipient has already downloaded or saved independently.

5.2 Collaboration Sessions

A Collab session lets you and another user (or, for a mentor's public offer, multiple users) exchange audio, video, image, and document files — including stems and Pro Tools project files — back and forth. Files you send into a Collab are made available to the other participant(s) in that session for as long as the session exists; we do not control what a recipient does with a file after they have received it, including saving, re-exporting, or further sharing it outside the Service.

An invite to a Collab session may expire if unclaimed; a broadcast-style invite created by a mentor may remain open to new participants for an extended period as disclosed at the time it is created. Once claimed, a Collab relationship itself does not expire on its own — either participant may leave it, and we may close it for the same reasons described in Section 8 (Moderation & Enforcement).

5.3 Live Sessions

Live broadcast and live-mixing features let a mentor or admin stream a session that other users may watch, and may let you sign up to be notified before a session goes live. We do not guarantee the availability, quality, or continuity of any live stream.

6) Artificial Intelligence Features

IndieSessions provides optional features that use artificial intelligence, generative media, or related technologies ("AI Features") — for example, generating a bio, contact card, profile image, background image, video, or music, or generating a complete AI-designed artist website from a text description.

6.1 Optional Use

AI Features are optional unless clearly stated otherwise. You do not need to use them to maintain a standard IndieSessions account or use non-AI portions of the Service.

6.2 Information Used by AI Features

When you affirmatively choose to use an AI Feature, you authorize us to process and transmit information reasonably necessary to perform the requested operation — which may include your profile information, bio, photos, selected media from your library, prompts and descriptions you type, and design preferences you select.

6.3 Affirmative AI Actions

Selecting an action clearly identified as an AI action — such as "Generate," "Generate with AI," "Create Website," "Generate Bio," or a similar clearly identified control — constitutes your affirmative request for us to perform that specific AI operation using the information identified for that feature. Declining an optional AI Feature does not prevent you from using non-AI features of the Service.

6.4 AI Service Providers

AI Features may be provided using third-party commercial AI and media-generation services, including services provided by companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Replicate, and ElevenLabs (see Section 10, Third-Party Services). We do not intentionally authorize these providers to use your content to train their general-purpose AI models unless we separately disclose that practice and obtain any consent required by law.

6.5 AI Output

AI-generated content may contain errors, omit information, produce unexpected results, resemble content created by others, or fail to reflect your intent. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content — including an AI-generated website — before publishing or relying on it. We do not guarantee the accuracy, originality, legality, or suitability of AI-generated output, and it should not be treated as legal, medical, financial, or other regulated professional advice.

6.6 Rights to AI Inputs

You may not knowingly submit content to an AI Feature unless you have the rights necessary to use that content for the requested purpose. You are responsible for ensuring that any personal, confidential, proprietary, or third-party information you submit to an AI Feature — including in a free-form prompt or description — may lawfully be processed for that purpose.

7) Public, Shared, and Private Content

The Service lets you choose how your media, profile information, and artist website are made available:

Changing content back to private or deleting it cannot guarantee deletion of copies already obtained or retained by others.

8) Third-Party Services & Links

The Service relies on third-party providers, including:

The Service may also link to or integrate with other third-party websites, apps, or content. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party materials or services; your use of them may be subject to their own separate terms and privacy policies.

9) App Store Terms (Mobile Apps)

If you download our app from Apple's App Store or Google Play, the respective store provider is not a party to these Terms and has no responsibility for the app or its content. You must comply with the applicable store's terms.

10) Purchases, Subscriptions, Trials, & Taxes (if applicable)

If the Service includes paid features — such as a subscription to connect your own domain to your artist website:

11) Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Service. Prohibited conduct includes (without limitation):

We may remove content, suspend features, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

12) Moderation & Enforcement

We may (but are not obligated to) review, monitor, or remove User Content at our discretion, including to comply with law or protect the Service and our users. We may preserve information as required by law.

13) Privacy

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy. You consent to our processing of your information consistent with that policy and applicable law.

14) DMCA / Copyright Complaints

If you believe your work has been used on the Service in a way that constitutes infringement, please send a notice including: (a) your contact info, (b) identification of the copyrighted work, (c) identification/URL of the allegedly infringing material, (d) a statement of good-faith belief, (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized agent, and (f) your signature.
Email: admin@indiesessions.com (subject: "DMCA Notice").
Counter-notices must meet 17 U.S.C. §512 requirements.

15) Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time without liability. Beta, experimental, preview, and AI functionality may change as the Service develops, and we do not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available indefinitely.

16) Errors & Availability

We do not guarantee that the Service or any content is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. We may correct errors and update information without notice.

17) Warranties & Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

(Some jurisdictions do not allow disclaimers; in such cases, the foregoing applies to the maximum extent permitted by law.)

18) Limitation of Liability

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INDIE SESSIONS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT WILL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY OR (B) $100.

These limits apply to any theory of liability, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages, and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose.

19) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless My Universe, LLC, and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your User Content; (b) your use or misuse of the Service, including any Collab session or Artist Link you create; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of law or third-party rights.

20) Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, including for any violation of these Terms. Upon termination, the rights granted to you will end, but Sections intended to survive (including 4.2–4.3, 5, 8, 11–19, 21–23) will continue.

21) Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the Service if you are under 13.

22) Export & Sanctions Compliance

You must comply with U.S. and international export, re-export, and sanctions laws. You may not use the Service if you are subject to U.S. sanctions or located in a restricted jurisdiction.

23) Beta Features

We may offer preview/beta features. They are provided "as is," may be discontinued, and may be subject to additional terms.

24) Electronic Communications; Notices

You consent to receive notices and communications electronically. We may provide notices by posting to the Service or emailing your account address. You are responsible for keeping your contact information current.

25) Dispute Resolution; Governing Law; Venue

Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Venue. Except as otherwise set forth below, you and IndieSessions submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.

Binding Arbitration. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Rules. You and IndieSessions waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class or representative action. CLASS ACTIONS ARE NOT PERMITTED. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first acceptance by emailing admin@indiesessions.com with subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your account email and a statement that you opt out. This section does not apply to claims that cannot be arbitrated as a matter of law or to injunctive relief for IP misuse.
